Think Differently

Like February 29th!?!?? That’s different.  The shortest month of the year also has variable days.  Sometimes there are 28 days and sometimes there are 29, but NEVER 30 or 31 like the rest of the months.  February is different.  Unique, but with a specific purpose.  Sound familiar?

Well I know I beat this horse to death every year, but February 29th is my birthday!  It makes me so happy, and it makes me take time to consider the variability in the world.  In my book, I share 366 daily affirmations to show some respect for Leap Year.  Some have asked me why 366 days and not 365? They are totally oblivious to the Leap Year concept, even though it comes ever 4 years!  And mind you, these people are old enough to have lived through a few of them. But this is how most of us go through life.  Unaware.

It is my blessing, because my journey is about Mindfulness.  It started with Mindful Eating to improve your wellbeing, and has expanded to Mindfulness in the broadest sense to achieve happiness in your mind and spirit as well.

A colleague recommended that I share an update on exactly what my vision is now that it has morphed over the last couple of years.  So here it is…I am amplifying a movement to pursue Happiness through Mindfulness. My books and blogs teach and reinforce a wellness mindset.  My app gives access to healthful foods to feed your body and social connections to feed your spirit with like-minded individuals.  Seems obvious to me, but like February 29th, I understand it can be easily overlooked.  Hence, it is my passion to bring together a community for awareness and mindfulness wherever I can.  It requires one to Think Differently.  Here are excerpts to chew on from A Year of ME

“It takes the Earth approximately 365 days and 6 hours to circle the sun.  Our modern-day calendar has only 365 days in a year, so we add a leap day on February 29 nearly every four years to keep in alignment with the Earth’s revolutions around the sun.  Leap days keep us in alignment with the universe.  It’s a good sign.

The first daily affirmation begins on March 1st which used to be the first day of the new year before the current calendar was adopted.  Have you ever wondered why Sept means 7, but September is the 9th month of the year?  October through December following the same pattern.  When the calendar changed the year by 2 months from March 1st to January 1st, the name of the months did not.  We’re going old school.” Interesting, huh?

Since Leap Day isn’t represented on the calendar this year, I will give a little excerpt here of the February 29th Affirmation, in case you missed it... :)

“Your full potential rests in your hands.
